July 9 August 20 August 30 September 13 – 19, 2008 A unique residential, educational experience for painters in an inspirational setting. Participants will stay at the Brick House, the 40-room Colonial Revival Vermont home of Shelburne Museum founder Electra Havemeyer Webb. Filled with European and American art and antiques, the home is surrounded by a breathtaking landscape with panoramic views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. Each day includes individual painting time, demonstration, discussion on the major components of making a work, and an optional evening critique, led by instructor Kathleen Kolb. The magnificent grounds of the Brick House and the exhibitions, gardens, and 45 beautiful acres of Shelburne Museum will provide a variety of subjects and inspirations. Instructor Kathleen Kolb has dedicated her professional life to creating transcendent paintings of light on ordinary subjects, most often the rural architecture and landscape she is most familiar with around her home in Vermont. Her work is represented in New York by David Findlay Galleries and in Vermont by Clarke Galleries, Southern Vermont Art Center, and Furchgott Sourdiffe Gallery. The National Academy of Design awarded her the Paton Prize for Watercolor in 1998. She has taught painting and drawing for over 30 years. Class size is limited to 12 painters. Please contact Eloise Patton: (802) 985-3346 x3305 or epatton@shelburnemuseum.org for information or to register. |
